Sorry about Friday. Most of you know I’m a CASA (court appointed special advocate) for kids removed from their home by CPS, and the case I’m on got REAL messy on Friday and the fallout is continuing today and likely for the next couple of weeks. I’ve got some tough decisions to make and I cannot get them wrong.
Buckle up, because it’s going to be a bumpy week for SCOTUS aka the U.S.’s version of a Drunk Relative. There are a couple of cases to watch. After many delays, trying to run out the clock until the election, the first to discuss is the PRESIDENTIAL IMMUNITY argument on Thursday, without which Snoozy McSquirrelhead says no President can do their job. Yet Obama, Clinton, JFK, FDR, Warren G. Harding, Woodrow Wilson and others managed to it. Truman dropped the bomb. Nixon bombed Cambodia. Clinton got a blow job. Just Presidents doing President stuff, but he needs PRESIDENTIAL IMMUNITY for all of the crimes he’s planning to commit if he gets back in office. His argument is that a President can’t face criminal charges without first being impeached by the House and convicted by the Senate. His lawyers maintain that his argument is "a novel, complex, and momentous question." Those lawyers are nothing but fluffers at this point. He still faces trials dealing with the classified documents mishegoss in Florida and state charges in Georgia related to his efforts to overturn the election results in that state. I know, you know, it’s hard to keep up. I need a whiteboard or something. It’s not the question of whether the Watergate tapes belonged to Nixon, and it’s not Bush v. Gore, but this particular tar baby is a big one. But picture this: they rule that immunity is a thing, and Biden is out of the picture for whatever reason so that leads to Kamala with PRESIDENTIAL IMMUNITY and oh lord, she coming. Conservatives would blow every gasket they got. Hey! You! Get offa my cloud.
